Applications for the 2009-2010 school year will be accepted from October until March. All applicants must be college graduates who want classroom experience and knowledge in all areas of the teaching profession. Applicants must be willing to commit to two years of training at Town with a change in grade placement after the first year. The New Teacher Institute places men and women into self-contained classrooms (kindergarten through fourth) and single subject classes (art, science, humanities) for grades five through eight. Teaching interns are paired with experienced teachers.

Intern positions are full-time. Salaries are $30,000 for the first year and $31,000 for the second year. All interns receive full medical and dental benefits.

2. Send two letters of reference, one from a professional or academic source and one from a personal source. The letters can be sent separately from the application. Please mail the letters to the above address.
   
3. After the application materials have been reviewed, we will schedule an interview appointment and a tour of the school.

Please note preferred dates of interview on your application, if you are planning a trip to the San Francisco Bay Area. Interviews are generally held February through April.

4. All applicants will be notified with decisions about placement in May.
