Community Service
Community service at Town School provides opportunities for boys to actively contribute to and enrich the community in which they live. Boys are taught about the community that exists in the classroom, the school, the city, and the world at large, and community service projects are integrated into the curriculum of each grade. Our younger students participate in developmentally appropriate service such as work on our own rooftop garden, the sixth grade is responsible for recycling at Town, and seventh and graders serve as mentors and reading buddies for second grade students at William L. Cobb Elementary School.
On or around March 31st, we have an annual Day of Service (Dia de Servicio), in honor of the birthday of Cesar Chavez. On this day the entire school including students, teachers, and staff, fans out across the city, working with organizations such as the San Francisco Food Bank, Holy Family Day Home, and Golden Gate Park Habitat Restoration.
